Typography has been an interest of mine since I saw my friend Joshua Gaylord’s first laser-printed essay in the 9th or 10th grade. Wikipedia, as with so many things, has been a fount of information on typography and fonts. So much so indeed that the subject has lost a bit of its enchantment me.

At the same, the internet has worked to simplify the subject for me, as the restrictions imposed by cross-platform consideration has effectively succeeded in establishing a limited canon of digital fonts. Just as well. Too many choices can overwhelm. Creativity is sometimes enhanced by a limited palette. And fine things can be achieved with Arial.

Still, I keep my eye out for effective typographical effects and font grouping and it is a subject I will continue to explore on this blog.
