<p>But just saw the new White House home page and I&#8217;m impressed.  Here&#8217;s a comparison side-by-side (new Obama page to the left, of course):</p>

<p>To be fair, that&#8217;s an older version of the Bush website and the most recent version (see <a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/fimoculous/3213257378/sizes/o/">here</a>) was definitely a step up.  But, still, the designers of the Obama Adminsitration&#8217;s site did a superb job.  One of my big hopes for the Obama Administration is more transparency.  I hope this is a sign of things to come.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>One of the first categories for this blog, just as it was one of the first motivations for my last, is design.  It&#8217;s something I never have enough time for and that I have neglected more and more of late.  I plan to give it more attention here.</p>
<p>On that topic, one of the first matters for attention this blog&#8217;s theme.  I&#8217;ve started by installing <a href="http://wordpress.org/extend/themes/plainscape">plainscape</a>.  It seems like a good, simple foundation upon which to build.  I also like <a href="http://wordpress.org/extend/themes/primepress">primepress</a> and <a href="http://wordpress.org/extend/themes/no-frills">no-frills</a> and expect to incorporate elements from them.</p>
