**Q: When I use your moshi v2.0 stylesheet (mostly for that banner) I end up with a screwed up mast; those myspace buttons and that google-search bar get entertwined (or smashed together). And I've noticed it happens to those sample pages you uploaded too, so perhaps there's a bug in the code..?

**Q: I have a Band Site. My problem is the "Shows & Dates calender on the profile... the Shows and Dates are side by side...there is a huge space between them so the show doesn't get seen...it's probably a left/right padding issue but i can't find anything major on the style sheet that can fix this. ....any suggestions?...thank you..
Deletions:
**Q: I am using V2.0 on a Myspace Band Site...i have the Banner working and i can't get rid of the gap problem as well from "friend comments"....but my bigger problem is the "Shows & Dates calender on the profile...it shows the Dates but not the Shows and i have checked into the background possibly being the same color as the font being the problem but not so....the Show text/fonts is simply not there....any suggestions?...thank you..

Good question. I'm not aware of a way off-hand. The way the tables and divs are nested, it may not be possible. And since I recognize Tila Tequila's name, I suspect she may have special privileges. I remember a case where some car company (VW?) paid $10k or something to have complete control over their profile and totally changed the look
So, short answer: be a famous porn star or car company and pay the piper
Long answer: I'll check it out next time I'm on myspace (which may be a while.) In the meantime, where there's a will, there is usually a way. if you figure it out, please let us know. Best of luck.
**Follow-Up**
Alright, I will go out and pay MySpace the money they __//don't//__ need... yeah right.
I have seen a few band profiles do it as well, I am wondering if it is a band profile privilege.
I have a will and I will find a way!

Hi Will,,
Hmmm... first I've heard of this, but I see what you mean. Here's the source on your page as rendered in Firefox:
%%(html)
<style type="text/css">
START { YOUR BANNER - below myspace masthead }
NOTE { left margin should be half the width and negative }
.my_banner
{
width: 790px; margin-left: -395px;
height: 300px;
..; left: 50%; top: 164px;
overflow:hidden;
}
NOTE { make room for the banner by padding top of profile table }
NOTE { if your banner is getting cut off increase this }
body table table td {padding-top:300px;}
DNA { control side effects }
div table table td {padding-top:0px;}
body table table table td {padding-top:4px;}
END { YOUR BANNER }
</style>
<a class="my_banner" ><img src="http://www.seekingthroughsilence.com/gif/myspace_top.jpg" alt="my banner" border="0"></a>
%%
Does look like myspace's parser indeed purged the absolute setting. If this is the case, then it's beyond your or my control. Three things to try before giving up for now:
1. Make sure there's not a typo in the .my_banner -- the reason I say this is that it seems strange that the problem seems to be selectively attacking this profile and not your other one.
2. You might try to trick it by changing the spacing, eg: ''position: absolute;'' or ''position: absolute;'', but probably won't work.
3. Try adding the css inline, like so:
%%
<a class="my_banner" style="position:absolute; left: 50%; top: 164px;"><img src="http://www.seekingthroughsilence.com/gif/myspace_top.jpg" alt="my banner" border="0"></a>
%%
Can't remember if myspace allows that or not, but if so, this is probably your best bet.
Let me know how it goes. Good luck!
Tom
**Thank You Tom**
I tried your third reply first and it worked! Excellent reply. Can't thank you enough. Just as a quick side note, it does attack both sites I sent you. The only reason the other one (still) works is because I didn't re-submit the (same) code. If I go back to the site that is working and preview the code untouched, the problem comes up. I do know that when Myspace attacks (tweaking) code, they always do it when you submit it, but if you already had submitted it prior, then it will be fine until you do so again. Oh Myspace with your tricks! Thanks again Tom for your help and quick reply, I'm back on track.

**Question**
I was able to get your latest MasterHead and Custom Contacts working without a hitch. Great code by the way. However, now, without changing any of the code at all, the MasterHead stays within the BIO section (I have an artist page) and the Custom Contact does not seem to show up at all only after submitting the same code. For one site I did it for, I clicked on edit for the BIO section, changed nothing in the code at all, and then pressed preview and submit and now it doesn't work correctly. It seems like maybe Myspace changed something that affected the coding.
Links:
Working MasterHead where I saw it got messed up when I previewed the code so I didn't submit it:
http://myspace.com/cornerhousegift
One where I did submit and now it's not working correctly
http://myspace.com/ststestsite
Any ideas of what could be wrong? Thanks again for the great code, you do great work!
Thanks, Will
**Also had the same problem...**
then discovered that MySpace was turning the "position:absolute" tag into ".."
Any way around this?

**My masthead image is showing but it is overlapping the tables at the top of my page :( Is there a simple way to make more room at the top?**
Try changing this setting:
%%
body table table td {padding-top:110px;}
%%
(Previously answered [[http://myspacecivilized.blogspot.com/2006/10/custom-myspace-banner-masthead-updated.html#1025673442815925676 here]]).
**My banner image size is H:394 W:800. the image shows up correctly but i notice the larger the banner height... the larger the space between my friends and comments is. theres a big gap between my friends and comments, but if i use a smaller banner the gap gets smaller.. is there a way that i can use the larger banner but without having the space between my friends and comments?**
The extra gap is obviously a side-effect of some setting having to do with the banner. Are you using my code here?
http://myspacecivilized.blogspot.com/2007/03/linkable-image-banner.html
Note the settings there to control side effects:
%%
DNA { control side effects }
div table table td {padding-top:0px;}
body table table table td {padding-top:4px;}
%%
If I had to guess, I'd guess your missing something like those settings. If you've ruled this out, let me know and I'll look for another fix.
If not, try using the code on the blog.
Tom
that didnt work, im using the version 1.2 stable? i was able to get rid of the space by centering the entire profile but it through off the alignment of the page in IE. heres the full code maybe you can see whats causing that space? (also the banner image is in jpeg incase that makes a difference)
//Note: to make room, I've removed your code -- if needed for future reference, you can find it [[http://www.klenwell.net/is/MoshiQuestions?time=2007-03-19+20%3A55%3A35 here]].
Even with the code, it's tough to diagnose the problem in the abstract. A couple other suggestions:
1. Do you have a lot of other "flair" in your profile (big images, flash, media players, etc.)? It sounds like another page element could be encroaching on your comments table, perhaps pushing it down. Does your page scroll horizontally on a 1024 px wide monitor? If so, this could be the issue.
2. Perhaps replace the banner code from the 1.2 stylesheet with the new one I posted here:
http://myspacecivilized.blogspot.com/2007/03/linkable-image-banner.html
Honestly, it shouldn't make a difference, but this code is a bit simpler.
My only other suggestion is more trial and error. Unfortunately, the myspace html is so convoluted and their parser works in such obscure ways that this is about the only way to do it.
If the extra gap and the banner height are changing in unison, then you'll have to find some way to isolate the one from the other using CSS. Usually, that's done by targetiing a child element (in this case, it would be an element related to that gap.) If that sounds like gibberish, read up a little further on CSS and DOM. CSS isn't rocket science, but when dealing with myspace, it's often a moon-shot. It requires skill, experience, a lot of patience and a bit of luck.
Good luck. Let me know if you figure it out or have other questions.

Good luck. Let me know if you figure it out or have other questions.

that didnt work, im using the version 1.2 stable? i was able to get rid of the space by centering the entire profile but it through off the alignment of the page in IE. heres the full code maybe you can see whats causing that space? (also the banner image is in jpeg incase that makes a difference)

Also note the settings there to control side effects:

If I had to guess, I'd guess your missing something like those settings. If you've ruled this out, let me know and I'll look for another fix.
If not, try using the code on the blog.

I'll have to check this out. Do you mind including a link to your profile?
The extra gap is obviously a side-effect of some setting having to do with the banner. Are you using my code here?
